Each patch is individually pouched and supplied in cartons of 5 and 301.1 Not all pack sizes and strengths may be available. Apply to skin immediately upon removal from the protective pouch. The drug reservoir may be burst by excessive heat or pressure. Incompatibilities were either not assessed or not identified as part of the registration of this medicine. The effects of this medicine on a person's ability to drive and use machines were not assessed as part of its registration. Androderm is indicated for testosterone replacement therapy for confirmed testosterone deficiency in males. The structure of testosterone (17β-hydroxyandrost-4-en-3-one) is given below.
Tell your doctor all prescription and over-the-counter medications and supplements you use. Androderm may interact with insulin, blood thinners, oxyphenbutazone, or corticosteroids.
Even a used patch will still contain some medicine. Place the sticky side of the patch against the skin and press firmly around the edges so that the patch lies flat against the skin. Avoid using the same skin site for at least seven days to reduce the risk of skin irritation. Avoid applying the patch to the chest or shins. Avoid applying the patch to bony areas such as the point of the hip or shoulder.
All possible dosages and drug forms may not be included here. Category X drugs should never be used during pregnancy. Your doctor will monitor you for worsening symptoms while you take this drug.
This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions. This will help your health care provider make sure it is safe for you to use topical testosterone. Call your health care provider if your blood pressure increases while using this medicine. Keep all appointments with your health care provider so they can monitor you while you are using topical testosterone. The recommended adult starting dose is one 24.3 mg patch or two 12.2 mg patches (supplying 5 mg testosterone every 24 hours) applied to a clean, dry area of the skin of the back, stomach, upper arms, or thighs at approximately 10 pm nightly. Always tell your health care provider about any prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) medicines, vitamins/minerals, herbal products, and other supplements you are using. Keep all appointments with your health care provider to check your blood.
Hold the tabs on the patch and, whilst firmly holding the liner tab, gently peel the patch open. Application here may result in absorption of less testosterone. The patch may not stick properly if applied to oily or hairy areas. If you do not understand the instructions on the label, ask your doctor or pharmacist for help. You may need different amounts of your medicines, or you may need to use different medicines. These medicines may be affected by Androderm® or may affect how well it works. Some medicines and Androderm® may interfere with each other.
